Overview
Field Notes Quarterly is a print journal covering design, craft, and the people behind it. They wanted a redesign that respected the reader and gave the writing room to breathe.
The challenge
Long features, interviews, and dense reference sections all had to live in one book without feeling like three different magazines. Consistency and pace were everything.
The approach
I built a flexible baseline grid, a two-family type system, and a set of layout patterns the editorial team could reuse issue after issue. The result reads slower, on purpose.
